Mary MacKillop Feast Day

"Mary's Feast Day provides all Australians with an opportunity to stop and reflect on the meaning of life. Mary MacKillop, an Australian by birth, stands out as one of our Australian heroes. Her life story embodies characteristics which are integral to the Australian identity: a sense of a fair go for everyone, her willingness to stand on the side of people who are vulnerable, her pioneering spirit and her ability to respect people from across all beliefs and cultures. Mary would look for the good in others and assist children and people to feel good about themselves. She avoided being judgmental and cynical no matter what the situation and tried always to be 'big hearted' and be 'with' the people in their struggles. Mary's innate
goodness and her down to earth approach to life, her ability to bring hope and purpose in the midst of suffering, has given Australians a freedom to be spiritual. Mary is not a Saint to be admired from afar. She is a person who truly understands the everyday life of people, their struggles and their joys. She stands as a person who reflects to the Australian people the compassionate heart of God. Amongst her great qualities are her sense of integrity and kindness, her being loyal to friends and forgiving of enemies, her pragmatism in all areas as well as her genuine holiness."

JAN Meeting Sunday 25thJune 2006

Janet Hughes from Sirius Consulting facilitated a 'dreaming' workshop for the JAN Qld Inc Management Committee and Members to bring clarity for action to the group
Janet moved us through the process during the afternoon and the group reached seven clear strategies. That evening Mary Fletcher composed a new song 'With a Josephite Heart' to reflect the outcomes of a perfect day
JAN has completed the legal requirements from Office of Fair Trading after incorporation with securing insurance and setting up our financial arrangements.
JAN will be required to complete a strategic plan, developing a vision and mission statement and this workshop on 25th June'06 was the beginning of the process

-Document and collate members ministry [what you are doing] using a register/data base
-Commission and ritual a process for members ministering to others
-Apply for grant/submission for training 'Spiritual Companion/Mentor'to CLRIQ by 14th July 2006

The role of a Spiritual Companion/Mentor would be to help individuals achieve spiritual growth and to heighten awareness, mind clarity and inner peace. A Spiritual Companion/Mentor can be a personal support and individualised "cheerleader" of emotions who can help persons to find solace and hope, and enhance the daily lives of people whom they mentor.

Business venture update

Unfortunately the funeral business of Nathan's mother, Mary St George Stitts has been sold to another company The sub committee members for this business venture will continue with the business plan framework as a model for the next business opportunity One criteria for this sub committee is that all members of the Committee of Management JAN Qld will need to provide their biography and before the next meeting.
The underpinning focus for JAN Qld is the Spiritual Companion/Mentor role and the working group for this initiative will take on the primary role.
